Sterling provides investigative searches to obtain detailed information about an applicant’s professional history and measure their integrity. The searches available are:
FACIS
FACIS stands for the Fraud and Abuse Control Information System, which helps organizations to identify sanctioned individuals and entities in the healthcare field. To allow organizations to make different risk management decisions, we offer three FACIS screening levels: Level 1, 2, and 3.
OFAC
The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the US Department of the Treasury administers and enforces trade sanctions, based on US foreign policy and national security goals. Sterling ensures your candidate is not on this watch list.
OIG
For many years, the Congress of the United States has worked diligently to protect the health and welfare of the nation’s elderly and poor, by implementing legislation to prevent certain individuals and businesses from participating in Federally-funded health care programs. Sterling uses the best technology to identify these individuals, and protect those that need to be cared by your staff.
NPDB
Increasing medical malpractice litigation and the need to improve the quality of medical care led Congress to create the National Practitioner Data Bank (NOD). Sterling uses this database to identify those engaging in unprofessional behavior and identify incompetent physicians, dentists, and other healthcare practitioners. It is intended to augment, not replace, traditional forms of credentials review.
